    Buddhist Belief ‘In’: F. J. HOFFMAN.F. J. Hoffman - 1985 - Religious Studies 21 (3):381-387.
Recent articles in Religious Studies have underscored the questions of whether Buddhism presents any empirical doctrines, and whether, if it does, such doctrines are false or vacuous. In what follows I want to sketch an interpretation of Buddhism according to which it does not offer doctrines which are empirically false, on the one hand, or trivially true on the other. In doing so I take my cue from an earlier, and by now classic, paper by H. H. Price. For the (...)

Cultivating Responsible Plant Breeding Strategies: Conceptual and Normative Commitments in Data-Intensive Agriculture.Hugh F. Williamson & Sabina Leonelli - 2022 - In Hugh F. Williamson & Sabina Leonelli, Towards Responsible Plant Data Linkage: Data Challenges for Agricultural Research and Development. Springer Verlag. pp. 301-317.
This chapter argues for the importance of considering conceptual and normative commitments when addressing questions of responsible practice in data-intensive agricultural research and development. We consider genetic gain-focused plant breeding strategies that envision a data-intensive mode of breeding in which genomic, environmental and socio-economic data are mobilised for rapid crop variety development. Focusing on socio-economic data linkage, we examine methods of product profiling and how they accommodate gendered dimensions of breeding in the field. Through a comparison with participatory breeding methods, (...)

    Enseñar a gestionar la innovación en el máster.F. J. Arcega, I. Plaza & C. T. Medrano - 2011 - Arbor 187 (Extra_3):195-200.

Towards Responsible Plant Data Linkage: Data Challenges for Agricultural Research and Development.Hugh F. Williamson & Sabina Leonelli (eds.) - 2022 - Springer Verlag.
This open access book provides the first systematic overview of existing challenges and opportunities for responsible data linkage, and a cutting-edge assessment of which steps need to be taken to ensure that plant data are ethically shared and used for the benefit of ensuring global food security – one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The volume focuses on the contemporary contours of such challenges through sustained engagement with current and historical initiatives and discussion of best practices and prospective future (...)

    Some Quotations in the Liber Glossarvm.J. F. Mountford - 1921 - Classical Quarterly 15 (3-4):192-.
In response to a suggestion in the Class. Rev. , the two MSS. of the Liber Glossarum preserved at Tours have recently been examined. Since they had not been seen by Goetz when he published his excerpts, the following short descriptions may be added to the introduction of Vol. V. of the Corpus Glossariorum Latinorum: 1. Tours, Bibliothèque de Ville, MS. No. 850; end of the ninth century; foll. 493, of which 1, 491, 492 are mere corners; cmm. 49 by (...)

    Three Words of Ennius.J. F. Mountford - 1929 - Classical Quarterly 23 (2):114-115.
In Corp. Gloss. Lat. V. 435–490 Goetz published excerpts from the A A glossary. Further interesting items were published by C. Theander in Eranos XXIII 51–61, 167–176. The complete glossary is now being prepared for the press, and Professor W. M. Lindsay has kindly communicated to me some of the new items which may possibly contain quotations from classical authors. The most interesting of them is the following: MA 2 ‘Mabortia res quae ad pugnam pertinet unde moenia funduntur vel res (...)

    Antropologische benadering Van de angst.F. J. J. Buytendijk - 1969 - Tijdschrift Voor Filosofie 31 (4):623 - 637.

    An example related to Gregory’s Theorem.J. Johnson, J. F. Knight, V. Ocasio & S. VanDenDriessche - 2013 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 52 (3-4):419-434.
In this paper, we give an example of a complete computable infinitary theory T with countable models ${\mathcal{M}}$ and ${\mathcal{N}}$ , where ${\mathcal{N}}$ is a proper computable infinitary extension of ${\mathcal{M}}$ and T has no uncountable model. In fact, ${\mathcal{M}}$ and ${\mathcal{N}}$ are (up to isomorphism) the only models of T. Moreover, for all computable ordinals α, the computable ${\Sigma_\alpha}$ part of T is hyperarithmetical. It follows from a theorem of Gregory (JSL 38:460–470, 1972; Not Am Math Soc 17:967–968, 1970) (...)

    The myth of the hoplite's hoplon.J. F. Lazenby & David Whitehead - 1996 - Classical Quarterly 46 (01):27-.
‘Hoplites are troops who take their name from their shields’. ‘The individual infantryman took his name, hoplites, from the hoplon or shield’. Such is the orthodox view. This paper will endeavour to show that its basis is inadequate. Rather, we shall argue, hoplites took their name from their arms and armour as a whole, their hopla in that all-encompassing sense; so that the original and essential meaning of the word hoplite was nothing more than ‘armed man’.
